In today’s rapidly changing digital world I find comfort in having a few fine objects in my life that are tactile and sensual to the touch. I would like to share this object with you, the Twelve-Fifteen. It has been designed as a modern interpretation of the Quill and Ink well from a time not so long ago.
Quills were the writing instruments of our forefathers for hundreds of years. When I am writing, sketching, creating with this pen, it reminds me of a romantic time when information was transferred at a much different pace. One with intimacy and meaning. For me there is no better way to capture my thoughts than with a pen. The flow of ink onto paper, has a tactile quality that slows down time, allowing me to gather my thoughts, questions and Ideas.
Twelve-Fifteen “1215” the name given to this object is derived from the year that the Magna Carta, written with a Quill, was presented to King John of England by the Barons of the land. They had had enough of his oppressive ways and demanded change, using the pen to trump his swords. This Magna Carta, or Great Charter has been referred to by historians as one of the leading documents to shape the western world we live in today. In fact the American Declaration of Independence,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Declaration_of_Independence, is said to be built upon some of the same rules put unto King John back in the Thirteenth century.
The inscription on the Ink well of “1215” is positioned in the fashion of compass headings. The intention of this arrangement is to remind the user, that you are in control of your path, direction and destiny in life. With this pen, I ask you to take the time to write where it is you want to go, what you want to do, what is your Magna Carta?

When the seed capsule is exposed to moisture it begins to degrade, releasing the seed within Sprout and starting its germination. I’m a computer tech by day and a wood hobbyist by night. In the evenings and weekends I like to spend my time making projects with wood. My latest find are these awesome looking 30 caliber bolt action pens. The ink is actually controlled by the bolt action. Sure to please all enthusiasts including: military, hunters, 2nd amendment and anyone else who just likes cool stuff. They are awesome! I’m making the pens in three different colors and in three different sizes! Pick your poison or get a trio to enjoy one of each size or color.
So you might be wondering since this is my hobby, why do I have a kickstarter page? Well, it may be my hobby, but I don’t have any of my own tools! I’m constantly having to borrow from friends and while they say they don’t mind I would love to have the money to get my own tools to use at home! A good lathe can cost several thousand dollars before adding in the shaping tools, then there is a drill press, a band saw, a disc sander, a belt grinder and many more random tools. Raising this money will help me to work on projects without having to worry about scheduling time with someone else’s tools. In addition to tools, the money will pay for the materials needed to create the pledge rewards.

There are a lot of cool pens, some of them made out of titanium, available our there. Nice pretty pens with cute little clips. Ours is not one of them. Everything about our pen screams over- designed, over-engineered and over-built. Think of this as an evolution of our previous design… in -drum roll, please- titanium. It’s a “clicky” pen with a body and tip machined out of solid titanium. For proper balance (everyone knows that a real writing pen should have the balance tipped forward), the tip has been re-profiled and is also made out pure titanium. Swanky, right? To stay put in your pocket, we updated the nearly bullet-proof cold stamped spring steel clip and textured powder-coated it for durability and corrosion resistance. We use a machined Delrin spacer for fitting multiple cartridges (Fisher / Foray / Parker / Schmidt / Franklin-Christoph) and a machined cam advancing mechanism (no cheap stamped parts here) with a ball bearing cam design for silky smooth operation (so smooth, it doesn’t actually “click”… it’s actually cooler this way).
This project started with a vision to create 2 truly amazing titanium click pens from the ground-up. It has been a big challenge and a project that we have been working towards for over a year now. We can’t even begin to tell you how many times we have been emailed and had requests to make a click pen version of our solid titanium pen + stylus. So, we listened and made what we felt are 2 of the most refill-friendly and versatile click pens ever.
